The Arts are Back at Park Tudor!

The Fine Arts Department is excited to announce that the Arts are Back! We have an exciting line up for our theatrical productions and for the Janet Flanner Visiting Artist Series. In addition, all enrichment opportunities such as Private Lessons, After-School Dance, Music Readiness and Young Strings will resume this year.

An important component of the Fine and Performing Arts Department at Park Tudor School is our private music and dance study program.  It allows students to study with a private teacher here on campus. Lessons are scheduled both during the school day and after school.

Registration for all Fine Arts enrichment classes will be sent out in a separate communication at the start of school, so please know there will be many exciting offerings to choose from as you explore enrichment opportunities.

Parents in all Divisions are welcome and encouraged to get involved in the Park Tudor Arts Guild, to support the Arts at PT! Information for a call out meeting and volunteer opportunities will be coming soon from your PTAG Co-Chairs: Jessie Friskney and Wendy Keller.

Lessons generally start at the end of August/ beginning of September. Lessons are billed by semester, with registration and fee structure coming soon.

The Early Childhood Music Readiness Program (JK2 and SK)
The Music Readiness Program engages a child’s love for imaginative play and natural curiosity for music to create an environment where those special childlike qualities can develop into a real love for music making. Children will get to explore simple percussion instruments (rhythm sticks, shakers, bells, glockenspiels, etc.) while creating rhythms and incorporating movement to feel the beat. We will also learn to recognize pitch and dynamic changes, and begin learning about important composers, music genres and basic music notation.

Lessons begin in September of the school year and are scheduled during the day, once each week for a 30 minute lesson. There are no fees for the course, however class sizes are limited and registration is on a first come, first serve basis.

Young Strings Program (Grades 1-4)
The Young String Program offers children musical instruction on violin and cello in small group classes and is designed as a supplement to the activities of children who are strongly drawn toward music in their early years. Students will learn to read music as they enhance their skills of coordination, discipline, and diligence which are fundamental to playing a stringed instrument. Inherent to this program is an emphasis on chamber music that nurtures the fun and enjoyment of making music with friends!

Lessons will begin in September and are scheduled during the day during PE and recess when possible. Lessons are 30 minutes and meet two times each week.

Young Strings Program fee is $80 per month and will be billed to the student account.
Instruments may be purchased or rented from a music store.
Music books and supplemental material are provided.
