Tech Devices: Grades 6-8
Park Tudor Middle School is a 1:1 Electronic Device Learning Community
We are a 1:1 learning community. Consequently, students must have their own device. Park Tudor will provide a Chromebook for each sixth and seventh grade student to use during the academic year. Park Tudor will own and manage these devices to maximize the Chromebook’s potential as a learning device. All students will be expected to sign and abide by the Park Tudor Responsible Use Agreement.
- 6th Grade: Students will be issued a school-owned Chromebook at no additional cost to use during the academic year.
- 7th Grade: Beginning this year, all 7th grade students will also borrow a school-issued Chromebook at no additional cost.
- 8th Grade: Students will continue to bring their own device.
All school-issued Chromebooks include internet filtering software for both school and home use. Devices will be distributed during the first week of school and must be returned at the end of the year. Families are responsible for the replacement cost of lost, stolen, or damaged equipment: approximately $350 for a Chromebook and $40 for a power cable.
Personal Device Guidelines for Current 8th Grade Students in 2025–2026
Eighth grade students who are bringing their own device should bring a non-phone device. While older or refurbished devices are acceptable, we recommend the following:
- MacBook Laptop: At least 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage; model year 2020 or newer.
- Windows Laptop: i5 processor or better with at least an 11” screen; model year 2020 or newer.
Note: We do not recommend iPads at the MS level. Their usage tends to decline in the upper grades as well. If purchasing a refurbished laptop, we recommend doing so directly from the manufacturer.
Please ensure personal devices are set up for educational use by removing distractions such as messaging apps, games, and non-school email accounts before the start of the school year. If you have any questions or need assistance selecting a device, please contact Sara Rogers, Middle School Technology Integrator at srogers@parktudor.org.
