* On Saturday, December 7, Park Tudor juniors Jack Button, Maggie Hayward, Jarod Lau, Henry Wempe, and Henry Wolfla participated in the 43rd annual Richard G. Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow’s Leaders at the University of Indianapolis. As advertised, “the signature symposium is designed to expose some of the best and brightest young minds in Indiana to global issues (in an impartial fashion) and help them gain an appreciation for the complexities of these issues.” The day began with a keynote speech by Steve Inskeep (National Public Radio) in honor of the legacy of the former mayor of Indianapolis and the very distinguished senator who was the longest-serving member of Congress in Indiana history. The afternoon sessions included lectures and debates regarding topics including "From Shortridge To The Soviet Union: Senator Lugar, A Life of Service;" "Resident Aliens: Immigration And Refugees In The US And Abroad;" "Nationalism: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly;" "Looking Ahead To The 2020 Presidential Election;" and "Europe in Crisis." Joseph Fumusa, Upper School teacher of US Government and Political History accompanied the students to the symposium and participated with the faculty.
