Students and Faculty in the News (5/20/2021)

* Eighth grader Michael Pinner was featured in an Indianapolis Star article about NXG Youth Motorsports, a program that has given more than 2,300 local, mostly Black youth, a taste of racing through go-karts. Eighth grader M.J. Gaines is also participating in the program.

 

* Junior Isabel Goodwin has been awarded a 2021 National Cyber Scholarship. The program encompassed a two-day scholarship challenge for high school students. The online Capture the Flag competition tests skills in cryptography, binary programs, memory corruption, coding, password cracking, and reverse engineering. Additionally, as a result of scoring in the top 5% of competitors, Isabel won a $3000 cybersecurity course provided by SANS Technology Institute to be held this summer.

 

* Upper School Spanish teacher Dr. Francisco Hidalgo has recently published a book entitled Financial Freedom: A Guide to Growing Your Wealth During Times of Crisis. In addition to teaching Spanish, he is instructor and sponsor of the Young Investors Club, where students learn to manage their portfolios through stock value investing and options trading. He is a former market analyst, investor, and entrepreneur. The book is downloadable to any device from Amazon in both an English version and Spanish version. Financial Freedom started as a project to teach personal finances to Park Tudor students. Several AP students collaborated on the project: Adelaide Benoint, Stella Friskney, Lauren Kittle, Catherine Kramer, Pooja Krishnan, Zoe Paugh, Ahmed Athar, Alexander Badman, Lucy Furqueron, Isa Hanson, Luke Hayes, William Morris, Audrey Pan, and Mary Kate Tanselle. The book's cover was designed by DJ Weymuth.
