Sophomores Raise Awareness of Food Deserts
At the beginning of the school year, three sophomores - Maddie Hoskin, Nandini Mathavan, and Vanessa Xiao - launched a food desert awareness campaign as part of their Community Awareness DECA project for a new club that was started this year. The campaign’s purpose is to raise funds and bring awareness to Indianapolis and the Park Tudor community about the Food Desert Crisis. In March, they will compete in downtown Indianapolis, where they will turn in their 20-page report about the campaign and give an oral presentation. Throughout the year, they were able to gain insightful knowledge and conduct interviews with leaders in the community, such as Upper School Director, Sarah Webster, and a leader of Midwest Food Bank. The students have created an Instagram platform to document their journey. In addition, they are requesting your help - please fill out this very short google survey about food deserts.
