Order in the Court Afterschool Exploration Holds Mock Trial with Marion County Judge
Mr. Fumusa’s ‘Order in the Court’ Afterschool Exploration class tried the precedent-setting case New Jersey v. T. L. O.—a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court which established the standards by which a public school official can search a student in a school environment without a search warrant, and to what extent. Presiding over the case was the Honorable Marion County Superior Court Judge, Christina Klineman. A jury of PT staff, faculty, parents, and alumni made the final decision based on the Lower and Middle School students' arguments.
