The Middle School Speech and Debate Team competed in its first meet of the season at Ball State University on Saturday, November 2. Two-hundred seventy-five speakers from 16 schools spanning from South Bend to Bloomington attended the meet. Our team was small but mighty! Although only one team member had ever been to a meet before, every speaker came home with a ribbon. Evan Li (grade 7) earned 3rd place in Impromptu. Performing "Ruthless: the Musical," Amy Chen (6) and Khushi Shah (6) placed 3rd in Scripted Duo. Khushi Shah also (6) earned 4th place in Debate and the team of Lilianna Spartz (8) and Ingrid Spartz (6) placed 5th in Debate. Middle School English teacher Liz Odmark coaches the team.
