Three PT First Lego League Robotics Teams (grades 4-5) competed at the regional FLL qualifying tournament on Saturday, November 11 at Guion Creek Middle School. During the competition, each team had to give three presentations (a robot/programming presentation, a core values presentation, and a project presentation) as well as run their robot through the various challenges.
This year's project, titled Hydro Dynamics, required teams to investigate the human water cycle. Team members needed to look for problems with the way humans use, dispose, and transport water. Then they researched what is being done to solve the problem. Finally, the team had to design an innovative solution to the problem and share it with others.
The three teams have been working hard to prepare for the competition since early September and are coached by Lower School science teacher Lane Waters and Lower School Math Fellows Cassidy Walsh and Karsey King. The teams were:
The Crew: Tobi Akinsete (5th), Jack Cooreman-Hood (5th), Dylan Long (5th), Owen Warner (5th), Giacomo Pili (5th), and Turner Schaming (5th)
Stormnados: Hali Woody (5th), Annabelle Sogard (5th), Pritikaa Biswas (5th), Asha Arora (5th), and Alexandra Hoskin (5th)
The Tsunamis: Aden Hawkins (4th), Cameron Delia (4th), Ben MacLean (4th), Aneesh Gupta (4th), Sahan Gangireddy (4th), and Henry Lorentz (4th).
Congratulations to the Stormnados for receiving the "Project Champion" award!
