The Innovators Institute is back for its 4th year and there are more options than ever. Learn and experience how to apply principles of innovation, design, and entrepreneurship to create your own ideas and make them into reality. New this year: there are one-, two-, and three-week options available. This program is open to all Indianapolis-area students entering grades 9-12.
One-, Two-, and Three-Week Options are Available!
Week One: Principles of Innovation and Design, July 9-13
Learn the latest design-thinking techniques and principles of innovation through hands-on experience. Students work with Indy's top for-profit and non-profit businesses to discover local community needs, building empathy, collaboration and problem-solving skills to design solutions for business partners. This is a great option for community service hours and leadership training.
Week Two: Principles of Business and Social Entrepreneurship, July 16-20
Innovators Institute week two is an immersive experience designed to introduce creative young minds to the world of the business or social entrepreneur. Through field trips and visiting speakers, students learn from experienced leaders in their fields and find out first-hand what it takes to turn an idea into reality. This week includes the famous business-in-a-day challenge, where students start a business, from planning to profit, in a 24-hour period.
Week Three: The Pitch Challenge Week, July 23-27
The Innovators Institute ends with a week where students develop their own original idea to pitch to a panel of business/non-profit leaders on the final day. They will learn how to put together a business plan and how to prepare a pitch that could win them $1,250 in seed money. Previous winners include an app for teens to learn budgeting and an app for Indy Parks & Rec's free summer lunch program (as featured on Inside Indiana Business and WTHR). Could you be our next winner? (You do not need to have attended previous weeks to attend week 3).
