About Our Show:

Based on the original Broadway production and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. is a fantastic adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance.

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

With many fun supporting roles allowing students to play objects inside the castle, this "tale as old as time" is filled with spectacular costume and set opportunities.

Auditions for the Musical

Our production is open to ALL interested 7th and 8th grade students who can meet the rehearsal requirements and are in good academic standing. We have a "no cut" policy, and all students who audition will be used in our cast. Eighth grade advanced technical theater students are most welcome to audition for the cast and have the choice to participate on stage or behind the scenes with the technical crew. Eighth grade tech students serve as our crew members with US tech students filling the roles of crew heads.

Participation in a school dramatic production is an enjoyable and highly rewarding experience for our students. It does, however, require a serious commitment of both time and effort from the student and their family.

We do work together with the athletic department to allow the students to complete their winter sports commitment while beginning their participation in the play. Students who elect to participate in a spring sport may need to miss practice and possibly a meet/game in early April when our final rehearsals move to the stage.

For these reasons, we require a permission slip to be completed and presented to the directors at auditions.
