Directors' Notes

Dear Upper School Parents,

 

As we find ourselves heading into the holiday season, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of, and partnership with, the school. From spectating sporting events in freezing temperatures to hours of driving around town picking up and dropping off, your child could not be successful without your commitment to their various talents and passions.

 

This fall, we watched our students:

 

 

The positive energy within the Upper School is palpable. I am so proud of our students and the ways in which they are leading in the classroom, on the stage, and on the field. It has been an incredible fall and I look forward to the days and weeks ahead as we continue to celebrate the many accomplishments of our students.

 

I hope you enjoy time with family and friends during the upcoming Thanksgiving break.

We are in the middle of our annual food drive to support Westminster’s holiday baskets. Each division has been asked to provide 300 of a single item. The Upper School needs to supply green beans. We have until Tuesday, November 20, to fill the lobby with cans! I appreciate any support you can provide to our students to make this happen. After Thanksgiving we have additional initiatives to offer support to those in the greater Indianapolis community which we will soon share with students.

 

On Saturday, December 7, students have the opportunity to attend our annual Winter Formal dinner/dance at Meridian Hills Country Club from 7:00–10:30 p.m. Ticket prices will be announced in the next couple of weeks. Dress for the dance is semi-formal. While some students will choose to take a date, we also encourage our students to attend in groups (and many do).

 

Upper School exams begin on Monday, December 16, and continue through the week. Click here for the exam schedule. It is an expectation that students take their exams at the scheduled times. That said, we understand that unforeseen circumstances prevent students from taking exams when scheduled. Friday, December 20, is built in as a make-up day for students who are ill during the week. If your child is unable to attend due to illness, please contact Sharon Riddle. In addition, the Upper School utilizes all faculty, staff, and rooms during this week. Therefore, we cannot provide “after school” supervision for students following their exams. Please arrange for your child to be picked up at the conclusion of their exams each day.
