Discovery Week

Meaningful learning happens when students explore, create, and connect their learning to the world around them. By choosing topics that are interesting and relevant, students take ownership of their education, building engagement and purpose. Through hands-on experiences, open-ended challenges, and questions without a single right answer, students apply knowledge, analyze information, generate ideas, and solve problems—strengthening critical and creative thinking.

Working across grades and disciplines, students build collaboration and communication skills by listening, leading, contributing, and working effectively with others. Discovery Week also builds resilience and reflection as students test ideas, work through challenges, consider different perspectives, and think about what they might do differently.

Students will rank five course selections and be placed in one of their choices. Led by one or more faculty members, groups of approximately 14 students will generally span grades 6–8. Courses will include guest experts and off-campus experiences, culminating in an exhibition, performance, presentation, or tangible product that showcases student learning.
