Sports: Boys Tennis Wins Semi-State!

Upper School

Boys Tennis

The boys tennis team defeated Franklin Community in the IHSAA semi-state this past Saturday, 4-1 at Center Grove High School. They will now advance to the state quarterfinals to be played tomorrow (10/14) at Center Grove. They are scheduled to take on the Evansville Memorial Tigers at 3:00 p.m. If they are victorious, they will advance to the IHSAA state semifinals Saturday morning at North Central, 10:00 a.m.

Cross Country

The cross country team competed in IHSAA sectional #20 at Brebeuf High School this past Saturday. The girls team posted a 7th place finish while the boys team finished 8th overall. Even though neither team will advance to the regional this coming Saturday, four Panthers placed high enough to continue into regionals. Congratulations to Jenna Beagle, Hana Shafique, Riley Spitzenberger and Jaden Seymour as they advanced to IHSAA regional #10 this Saturday (10/15), hosted by Noblesville High School at White River Elementary School. The girls race is set to begin at 10:30, while the boys are set to run at 11:15.

Football

The football team will wrap up their regular season this Friday as they take on conference rival Cardinal Ritter. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be played at Marian University. Sectional play will begin on Friday, 10/21 at 7:00 p.m. as the Panthers will travel to Broad Ripple High School to take on the Rockets in first round action.

Volleyball

The girls volleyball team will wrap up their regular season this evening as they travel to Western Boone to take on the Stars. They will begin sectional play next week as they travel to Scecina Memorial High School to take on Broad Ripple. Game time is set for 5:30 on Thursday, 10/20. If they are victorious they would then play the winner of Scecina/Speedway on Saturday, 10/22 in the sectional semifinal.

Boys Soccer

The boys soccer team defeated the Blackhawks from Sheridan High School in the first round of IHSAA sectional #47, 6-0. They then advanced to the sectional championship match this past Saturday versus the Eagles from Heritage Christian. In a very close overtime match the Panthers were defeated by the Eagles in penalty kicks.

Girls Soccer

The girls soccer team defeated Broad Ripple last Tuesday, 11-0, in the opening round of IHSAA sectional #42 at Heritage Christian. They then advanced to the semifinal game and defeated the International School of Indiana, 4-1. They competed in the sectional championship this past Saturday, but were defeated by the Heritage Christian Eagles, 3-0.

Hockey

The Central Indiana Knights hockey club, which is Park Tudor's high school hockey team, recently began its new season. This year Park Tudor has two student athletes competing for the Knights, senior goalie Adam Gottwald and junior forward Cole Caress. The Knights journeyed to Columbus, Indiana, the weekend of Oct. 1 for the Reins to Recovery benefit tournament and took third place. The Knights opened their Hoosier League play against Westfield this past Saturday and came up short in a 5-1 loss. The team travels to Louisville for a four-game tournament this coming weekend. Make plans now to attend the Knights home opener the weekend of November 12.

Crew

The Crew Team will be in action again at the end of the month as they travel to Columbus, Ohio to participate in the Blake Haxton Memorial. They will then wrap up their season November 5-6 in Chattanooga, Tennessee as they participate in the Head of the Hooch.

Middle School

7/8 Volleyball

PT ended the season with two hard fought games on Monday, losing to No. 1 seed Orchard in two sets in the IISL semifinals. Coach Curry says, "I'm very proud of these girls for their hard work and good sportsmanship. We ended the season with 17 wins to 7 losses."

Cross Country

On Tuesday, the boys and girls teams both placed 2nd at the conference meet. Carly Wiegel won the girls race by 13 seconds, and Jack Button won the boys race by 17 seconds.

Middle School Soccer Teams IISL Champions

Soccer

The 6th grade soccer team won a white-knuckle overtime thriller over Orchard on Monday, 2-1. Tuesday's IISL championship was another thriller as the 6th grade team scored the winning goals in the last 20 minutes, winning 3-1. The 7/8 grade co-ed soccer team won 1-0 on Monday over No. 1 seed St. Richard. In Tuesday's IISL championship, Gabbie Lindeman scored the game-tying goal in the last 30 seconds, and the Panthers were able to claim the victory after penalty kicks!

Football

The Middle School Football team played its last game of the 2016 season against a much larger team and scored two great touchdowns against them.

Tennis

The final tennis match of the 2016 Middle School season was at Park Tudor on Monday, October 10 against Orchard. Awards were given to the Most Valuable Players: Jason Russell & Nandini Mathavan; Most Improved: Ethan Warren & Avantika Aggarwal; Mental Attitude: Jack Sturman & Abigail Harris.
