PT Community Comes Together for Holiday Food Drive
PT Community Comes Together for Holiday Food Drive

The entire Park Tudor community came together in November to collect food for one of our partners, Westminster Neighborhood Services. As part of a multitude of services they offer, Westminster creates 300 holiday baskets for local families each year in December. This year, Park Tudor met the goal of collecting 1,500 cans/boxes of food for the baskets. It was a tremendous effort by all. The fourth grade students organized the drive in the Lower School, and the student leadership group (SLUGS) in the Middle School and the student council in the Upper School organized the collection of food in their respective divisions.

Westminster Neighborhood Services is an organization on Indy's near southeast side which provides meals, a food pantry, and opportunities for adult education. Westminster also has an after-school program for students in grades SK-8, offering homework help and a hot meal in the evening. Park Tudor's fourth grade students volunteer at Westminster twice a month, collecting and organizing toiletries for hygiene kits and assisting clients with their grocery shopping in the food pantry.

This year's food drive was a monumental success! Lower School students donated 432 cans of green beans, 293 cans of sweet potatoes, and 300 cans of fruit cocktail. The additional cans of beans were donated to First Baptist food pantry. The Middle School collected 301 boxes of pancake mix, and the Upper School donated 300 jars/cans of spaghetti sauce. Thank you to everyone who was able to take part in this time of giving.
