The director of the Legacy Initiative, Mrs. Kathryn Lerch, has received numerous awards for her work with this project. She was the DAR History Teacher of the Year in 2005. In 2006 she was also selected as Teacher of the Year by the Indiana Historical Society and the Secondary Educator of the Year by the American Legion (State of Indiana).
