Mitchell, Dr. Jeffrey (2005) – Lower School Director

Dr. Mitchell holds a master's degree in educational administration and a doctorate in education with a specialization in human learning, development and instruction from the University of British Columbia. He earned a B.A. degree in psychology from the University of Winnipeg. From 1999-2005, Dr. Mitchell served as deputy principal of the Junior School at St. George's School in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he also taught since 1994. He also was an instructor at the University of British Columbia from 1990-2005. Dr. Mitchell was selected as an E.E. Ford/National Association of Independent School Fellow in their Program for Aspiring Heads for the 2004-05 school year. He has published a number of papers on educational issues and presented educational research at the American Educational Research Association Conference, the Canadian Association of Independent Schools Conference, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. At St. George's, he led a number of special committees and programs, including the Teacher Appraisal Committee and the Teacher Orientation Program, and organized and led student international tours. He has coached middle school basketball and directed the school's golf program. He is an executive member and director of foundations for his chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, a worldwide organization of professional educators.

Averyt, Shannon (2005) – Grade 4

Ms. Averyt holds a bachelor of music in education degree (cum laude) from Columbus State University and has done graduate course work at Ashland University. She has been a music teacher in George and Virginia and a second grade teacher at Columbus Academy in Gahanna, Ohio. She also taught at Haylett Grange School in Wales.

Mrs. Ayres holds a B.A. degree from Purdue University. Before joining Park Tudor in 1994, she was a long-time faculty member at Orchard School. Mrs. Ayres has a strong commitment to professional growth, having attended and presented at many conferences and seminars. She previously served on the Professional Services Committee of the Independent Schools Association of the Central States and currently chairs the school's Professional Development Committee.

Barlow, Belinda (2007) - Lower School Teaching Assistant

Ms. Barlow holds a B.A. degree from Anderson University and a M.A. in education from Ball State University. She was a pre-first and second grade teacher at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School in Atlanta, GA for 18 years and last year was a resource instructional assistant at Maxwell Middle School in Maxwell, IN.

Ms. Behringer is a graduate of Marquette University with a B.A. degree in interdisciplinary and social sciences. She previously taught kindergarten at 21st Century Preparatory School in Racine, WI and was a substitute teacher in Milwaukee and Mequon, WI. At Marquette, she was team captain of the Women’s Soccer Team and an All-Conference Honoree. She is also a former member of the Indiana Blaze Women’s Soccer League and a soccer coach.

Blankenbaker, Carrie (2001) - Grade 2

Ms. Blankenbaker holds a B.S. degree in elementary education from Indiana University. She previously spent nine years as a second grade teacher in the Carmel Clay Schools and also has worked as a preschool teacher at North United Methodist Children’s Program. While at Carmel schools, Ms. Blankenbaker served as technology coordinator for her grade level and was a member of the strategic planning committee, which developed the school corporation’s math curriculum, as well as the performance-based accreditation team.

Canull, Nancy L. (1980) - Hilbert Center/Lower School Counselor

Ms. Canull holdsa bachelor's degree in English and mass communications and a master's in English and mass communications from Ball State University. She received her master's degree in in counseling from Indiana University. Ms. Canull joined Park Tudor as a junior kindergarten assistant, then taught second grade and later senior kindergarten. She then taught half time and worked half time as counselor for students in kindergarten through grade six. In 1993 she assumed the role of full-time counselor. Prior to 1980, she was head of the English Department and an English and speech teacher at Craig Middle School (Indianapolis) and taught English, speech and theatre at Binford Junior High School (Bloomington) and Dunkirk High School (Dunkirk). Ms. Canull has co-authored a book for parents, "Math in a Snap," and has been a presenter at conferences and to schools and parents on ADD/ADHD in the classroom. She is the founder of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra Women's Guild and founded the Julian Center's Amish Country Market and the Carmel Historical Society's Country Christmas Bazaar.

Crafton, Annie (1997) - Grade 2

Mrs. Crafton holds a B.S. degree in elementary education from Indiana University. She also has served as a second grade teaching assistant, teaching assistant for the Extended Day Program, coordinator of the After School Program, and coordinator of the Math Pentathlon. She has experience as a first grade student teacher in Whakatane, New Zealand and as a fifth grade student teacher at Lakeview Elementary School in Bloomington.

Mrs. Dexter holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Purdue University, where she graduated with highest distinction and received a number of awards, including the School of Education Distinguished Student Award and Alpha Xi Delta Top Woman Scholar of Purdue University. She also holds an endorsement in gifted and talented education. From 2001-2004, she taught fourth grade at Park Tudor. She previously spent seven years as a fourth and second grade teacher at Mayflower Mill Elementary School in Lafayette, IN, where she was twice nominated for the Golden Apple Award and was named Teacher of the Year for her school in 1999.

A graduate of Park Tudor predecessor Tudor Hall and 2003 recipient of the Park Tudor Distinguished Alumni Award, Mrs. Everett holds a B.A. from Carroll College and M.S.W. from Indiana University. Previous to her current school positions, she served Park Tudor as associate director of admissions and director of communications and alumni relations. She also has been cheerleading sponsor, faculty sponsor of the Sociology Club, co-director of the Middle School productions from 1998-2002, Faculty Annual Fund Liaison, and has served as Park Tudor’s Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) Evaluation Chair in 1987 and ISACS Evaluation Vice-Chair in 1992. She currently serves on the Park Tudor Alumni Association Board of Directors. Before coming to Park Tudor, Mrs. Everett was associate director of Admissions for Carroll College (WI) and director of volunteers for homebound seniors at the Indianapolis Senior Citizen's Center. She has served on a textbook review committee for a national textbook company and is the author of a workbook, "Doing Sociology." She has collaborated with POLIS Center in a pilot program which engaged high school students as social researchers and is active in various committees, the Chancel Choir and Chamber Ensemble at Northminster Presbyterian Church.

Ms Floreancig holds a B.A. degree in journalism from Butler University. She has worked as an administrative assistant at Future Market Resources and as a personal executive assistant. She has also been a substitute teacher and volunteer coordinator for the Orchard School.

Fox, Karlyn (1999) - Grade 5

A teacher with more than 20 years of experience, Mrs. Fox graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor of science degree, specializing in junior high/middle school education, mathematics and multicultural education. She holds a M.S. degree from Indiana University. She previously taught mathematics at Lincoln Middle School in Indianapolis, where she served on the Middle School Improvement Committee and the Multi-Cultural Education Committee. She also taught math at John Young Junior High School in Mishawaka, at Guion Creek Middle School in Indianapolis and at Custer Baker Middle School in Franklin.

Ms. Garloch holds a bachelor of arts in elementary education with Spanish concentration from Indiana State University (Terre Haute, IN), has a bilingual endorsement from the University of Houston, and was selected for the Summer Mathematics Project at Rice University (Houston, TX), where she took intensive training in mathematics education. Her teaching experience includes two years at Ruby Reed Intermediate and two years at Worsham Elementary (gifted and talented - bilingual program), both in Houston. College honors included a Sally Mae First Class Teacher nomination, an ISU Academic Scholarship, the Pansy Beatrice Bryant Walker Teaching Scholarship and membership in Mortar Board Senior Honor Society.

Mr. Hill attended the University of Southern Colorado and Colorado State University and holds a B.M.T. degree from the United States Coast Guard. He has eight years of experience in teaching, training and integrating technology into the classroom. He most recently was an e-content developer for Rotation Learning Systems. He also is assistant coach of the Park Tudor varsity boys' lacrosse team.

Holobek, Chris (2004) - Grade 4

Mr. Holobek graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in elementary education and received his M.S. and an endorsement in gifted and talented education from Butler University. Before joining Park Tudor, he taught overseas for nine years. He spent four years in Frankfurt, Germany at the Internationale Schüle Frankfurt as a math teacher for grades 3-5, four years at the International School of Helsinki in Finland, and another year at the Konigsberg International School in Kongsberg, Norway. He also spent 10 years as a third grade teacher at North Grove Elementary School in Greenwood.

Hutchinson, Kathleen G. (1997) - Grade 1

Mrs. Hutchinson holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in elementary education from I.U. (Bloomington) with endorsements in learning disabled (LD), emotionally handicapped (EH) and mildly mentally handicapped (MiMH). She also has an extensive background in gifted and talented education, and has completed advanced work at Notre Dame College of Ohio and at I.U.P.U.I. (reading specialist). An Orton-Gillingham tutor, Mrs. Hutchinson has been a recipient of an IPL Golden Apple Award and was the teacher representative recipient of a national award for outstanding curriculum presented by the American School Board Journal. She serves on the school's Curriculum Mapping Committee and previously served on the Professional Development Committee.

Mrs. Johnson holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Indiana University. She taught fifth and sixth grades from 1973 to 1977, then served for three years as librarian for kindergarten to grade 6 students in the Washington Township School system. She has spent every summer since 1989 working at Gnaw Bone Camp.

Kerr, Amy (2002) - Lower School Spanish

Mrs. Kerr holds a B.A. in romance languages DePauw University and has studied in Strasbourg, France. She joined Park Tudor in 2002 as a Lower School teaching assistant and also has taught Upper School French and Middle School Spanish. In 2005 she assumed the Lower School Spanish teacher position. She previously served as director of children's ministries at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church.

 

Lowe, Laura (1999) - Grade 3

Mrs. Lowe holds her B.S. degree in elementary education from Indiana University and has extensive specialized training in technology, mathematics and English education. Before joining Park Tudor, she was a fourth grade teacher at John Strange Elementary School in Indianapolis for eight years. She previously held positions as a grade 2 instructional assistant at John Strange, as a primary unit leader at Grandview Elementary School, as a student teacher supervisor at the IUPUI School of Education, and as an instructor in Los Angeles and Mipitas, California. She has been a nominee for the Jon Holden DeHaan Teacher of the Week and Washington Township Teacher of the Year awards.

McIntosh, Lori (1999) - Grade 1

Mrs. McIntosh is a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, IL with a B.S. degree in early childhood education and a master's degree in school counseling from Indiana University. She previously taught second grade at Park Tudor. She worked as a camp counselor and served as assistant camp director at the Jewish Community Center in Indianapolis, has tutored elementary and high school students, and volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club and YMCA.

Modglin, Michele (1999) - Grade 5 (Language Arts)

Mrs. Modglin holds a B.S. degree in elementary education with a reading endorsement from Indiana University School of Education. She previously taught third, fourth and fifth grades at Robert Lee Frost Elementary School #106, a "Modern Red School House" established in conjunction with the Hudson Institute, where she also served on the school's steering committee and as technology chair. Mrs. Modglin was swimming coach at Park Tudor from 1996 to 1997 and along with her husband is owner (and head swimming coach) of Clearwater Pool Services, which manages five commercial pools. She lived in Okinawa, Japan for six years.

Ms. Nie holds a B.A. degree in vocal performance/music education from DePauw University. She holds a M.M. degree from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She has worked as a fine arts/music teacher in Chicago and taught private voice and piano at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. She also has performed with the Cincinnati Opera.

Mrs. Nole holds a bachelor's degree from Bellarmine Ursuline College in Louisville (KY), where she majored in Spanish and minored in English and education. In addition she has taken post-graduate courses at Purdue, where she has completed the course requirements for endorsement in gifted and talented, and is currently studying educational research. She taught Spanish for 10 years at the Sycamore School (Indianapolis) where she created the Spanish curriculum for preschool through eighth grade. She is president of the Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association.

Mrs. Pellico holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Butler University with special endorsements. Mrs. Pellico began her teaching career at the Hasten Hebrew Academy of Indianapolis, where she served as an early childhood administrator as well as a classroom teacher. She has experience teaching in grades kindergarten through six. She has extensive training in technology and has presented technology workshops at national conferences. Mrs. Pellico enjoys traveling with her husband to experience new cultures and new places and is a volunteer at St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel.

Ms. Petrov holds a M.A. degree in fibers from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a B.S. degree in physical education and dance from Indiana University. Her professional art experience includes working as a jacquard fabric designer at Blumenthal Printworks in New Orleans and as a print stylist with Burlington House Bedding in Greesnboro, NC. She previously was a summer program director and physical education teacher at St. Richard’s School.

Mrs. Rominger holds a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Indiana University, where she was on the Dean's list and received an Excellence in Writing award. She previously taught preschool at Park Tudor and fifth and first grades at Christ the King School (Indianapolis) where she also served as the primary coordinator. She served as a teaching assistant at Park Tudor during the 1993-94 school year after completing her student teaching in Indianapolis and at a school in Ireland. She serves as Park Tudor's representative for the Independent Schools of the Central States and the Indiana Association of Independent Schools.

Mrs. Stewart holds a B.S. from Vanderbilt University and Ed.M. from Harvard University. She has worked at Park Tudor since 1998 as a literacy enrichment teacher for first through third grades in the Explorations after-school program and has served as Summer Programs coordinator for The Russel & Mary Williams Learning Project. She previously was a teacher in the Glencoe School District 35 (IL), Natick Public Schools (MA), St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School (Washington, DC) and The Potomac School (McLean, VA).

While in college, she served as an intern at Hook's Discovery & Learning Center, an assistant in the Purdue University Chemistry Demonstration Lab, and an intern at Honeywell-Quality Assurance Lab. She also worked as a tudor.

She previously served as School Outreach Coordinator with the Kidscommons Children’s Museum in Columbus, IN. She also has experience as a substitute teacher, science teacher and technology coordinator, and teacher’s assistant in schools in Indiana and Maryland, as well as a summer camp co-director.

Ms. Wright previously was director of operations at Herron High School and a special education assistant in Indianapolis Public Schools. She is currently enrolled in the Saint Mary of the Woods College preschool baccalaureate program.

Wright, Mary Jo (1998) - Grade 4 & 5 Science

Mrs. Wright holds a B.S. degree in elementary education, cum laude, with highest honors in elementary education, and an M.S. degree in education, both from Butler University. She previously taught grades 4 and 5 and served as grade 5 team leader at Fox Hill Elementary School and also taught fifth grade at Nora Elementary School. She has served as a "Mission to Mars" and "Space Camp" instructor at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis and as a guest instructor of shark dissection at Butler University. In addition, she was co-chair of the Science Curriculum Revision Committee for Washington Township Schools, served as lead trainer for the Indiana Department of Education for Authentic Science Assessment, and as a presenter at the Hoosier Association of Science Teachers conferences. Mrs. Wright is a member of the Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc., the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the National Science Teachers Association.
