Eckel, Lawrence (2001) - Director of College Guidance and Coordinator of Counseling Services

Mr. Eckel coordinates the work of the three school counselors, the Middle and Upper School academic deans, and the three college counselors. He holds a B.A. from Colby College and Ed.M. with a concentration in guidance and counseling from Harvard University. He also has completed graduate work at Yale Divinity School. He served as director of college counseling at the Kinkaid School in Houston for 10 years and previously was head of upper school and director of college counseling at the Ransom Everglades School in Miami. Mr. Eckel also has worked as a director of guidance and counseling and as a guidance counselor at high schools in Pennsylvania. He is an active member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and has presented at a number of regional and national college counseling conferences.

Canull, Nancy (1980) - Lower School Counselor

Ms. Canull holds a bachelor's degree in English and mass communications and a master's in English and mass communications from Ball State University. She received her master's degree in in counseling from Indiana University. Ms. Canull joined Park Tudor as a junior kindergarten assistant, then taught second grade and later senior kindergarten. She then taught half time and worked half time as counselor for students in kindergarten through grade six. In 1993 she assumed the role of full-time counselor. Prior to 1980, she was head of the English Department and an English and speech teacher at Craig Middle School (Indianapolis) and taught English, speech and theatre at Binford Junior High School (Bloomington) and Dunkirk High School (Dunkirk). Ms. Canull has co-authored a book for parents, "Math in a Snap," and has been a presenter at conferences and to schools and parents on ADD/ADHD in the classroom. She is the founder of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra Women's Guild and founded the Julian Center's Amish Country Market and the Carmel Historical Society's Country Christmas Bazaar.

Grinkmeyer, Joan (1999) - Upper School Counselor

Mrs. Grinkmeyer has more than 20 years of experience as a guidance counselor and social studies teacher. She received a B.S. degree from Indiana University and a M.S. degree in guidance and counseling from Butler University. She has been a leadership facilitator at the National Association of Student Councils National Leadership Camps in Castine, Maine and Lake Tahoe, and coordinates Park Tudor's freshman and senior retreats as well as Upper School leadership retreats. Before joining Park Tudor as Upper School counselor in 1999, she was a guidance counselor at North Central High School, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 1998. She previously was a guidance counselor and student council sponsor at Western Boone Junior-Senior High School and taught social studies at Plainfield Junior-Senior High School and Crispus Attucks High School.

Overpeck, Angela (1997) - Middle School Counselor

Mrs. Overpeck received both a bachelor's degree and master of science in education from Butler University and holds dual licensure in school counseling and school psychology. She has assisted The Russel & Mary Williams Learning Project by completing psycho-educational assessments of students at Park Tudor and was among the first group of faculty at Park Tudor to complete the Schools Attuned training in 2001. Mrs. Overpeck also worked in the Park Tudor Admissions Office for five years, serving as Acting Director and Associate Director. Prior to joining Park Tudor, she worked in development for WFYI (PBS and NPR) as coordinator of on-air fund-raising. Mrs. Overpeck began her career in education as a preschool and kindergarten teacher for two years prior to returning to graduate school.

Pendexter, Mary (2000) - Registrar

Mrs. Pendexter is a graduate of Marquette University with a degree in interpersonal communications. She has worked as a third grade teaching assistant in Washington Township Schools.

Staubach, Joan W. (1987) - Middle School Academic Dean

Mrs. Staubach was named Middle School Academic Dean in 2001 after nearly 15 years as Park Tudor’s eighth grade science teacher and Middle School Curriculum Coordinator. She also served as Science Club sponsor for five years. She received her B.S. from Indiana University and M.S. from Indiana and Butler Universities. She also attended Elmira College for Women and is a 1966 graduate of Tudor Hall. She previously taught at Dyer Jr. High Middle School, eighth and ninth grades in Bloomington, Lebanon Middle School, St. Joan of Arc, and Noblesville Middle School. She is active in a variety of organizations including Habitat for Humanity and Friends of the White River.

Stemen, Sue (2001) - Associate Director of College Counseling; Coordinator of Career Counseling; Legal Counsel

Ms. Stemen holds a B.A. in political science with emphasis in secondary education from DePauw University and received her J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law. She served as counsel for Ameritech from 1994-2001, was an attorney at GTE North from 1986-1994, and served as Deputy Securities Commissioner-Enforcement and legal counsel for the Indiana Secretary of State from 1983-1986. Ms. Stemen is a member of the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), the Indiana Association of College Admissions Counselors (IACAC), Indiana State Bar Association, Education Law Association and the Indiana ACT State Organization. She has served as a member of the board of directors of Girls Incorporated of Indianapolis and the Hamilton County United Way Advisory Board.
