

Jennings, Douglas S. (2002) - Head of School

Mr. Jennings is an accomplished and nationally active leader in independent school education, with more than 30 years of experience as a school administrator and teacher. From 1987 to 2002, he served as head of Indian Springs School in Indian Springs, Alabama, a highly regarded, academically challenging coed day and boarding school for students in grades 8-12. From 1979-1987, he was the director of the Upper School at Forsyth Country Day School in Winston-Salem, NC, where he also served as director of college counseling. From 1974-1979, Mr. Jennings was assistant headmaster and director of admissions at the middle school campus of Montclair Kimberley Academy, New Jersey. He holds a B.A. degree in English from Lafayette College, a master's degree in psychology and counseling from Montclair State College, and a master's degree in educational administration from Columbia University. Mr. Jennings has been actively involved with students throughout his distinguished career. He taught English and humanities, directed outdoor education programs, served as a student government advisor, and coached cross country, track and skiing. In addition, he has served as a prestigious Klingenstein Visiting Fellow at Columbia University and as a Christian A. Johnson Fellow. He is a board member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), has been an officer and board member of the Southern Association of Independent Schools. In addition, he has served as a workshop director and consultant for the NAIS Independent School Management and Educational Resources Group, as faculty director and consultant for the NAIS Institute for New Heads of Schools, and as a board member of Independent Educational Services.
Amstutz, David (2002) - Associate Head of School

Mr. Amstutz holds a B.A. in chemistry and history from Miami University (OH), a master’s degree in education from Indiana University, and a master’s in business administration (MBA) from the Yale School of Management. He previously was associate director of admissions at The Culver Academies. Before serving at Culver from 1999-2001, he was manager of customer support development and assistant to the chairman and CEO at Cummins Engine Company. He also was an associate instructor in science at Culver from 1985 to 1991. In addition, he has served as a senior examiner for the Baldrige National Quality Program for the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Ayres, J. Michael (1987) - Academic Dean; Assistant Coach for Debate

Mr. Ayres has served as Academic Dean since 2003 and was Middle School director from 1997-2003. He taught fifth grade at Park Tudor for nine years before moving to the Middle School, serving as Middle School athletic director for three years during that time. Prior to that, he was a teacher for 16 years and Middle School Head from 1980-1987 at Orchard School. He holds a bachelor's degree in English and economics as well as a master's in English and school administration from Butler University. He has served on a number of school accreditation teams in the Midwest for the Independent School Association of the Central States.
Black, Thomas E., Jr. (1961) - Administrative Advisor

Mr. Black began his long career at Park Tudor teaching summer school at Park School and has taught math at the school ever since. He became chair of the Mathematics Department in 1962, was director of Summer School from 1963-1966, director of Admissions and Financial Aid from 1966-1968, served twice as assistant headmaster, 1968-1970 and 1990-1996, was director of studies from 1968-1970, Upper School director from 1970-1990, interim headmaster from 1986-1987, and associate headmaster from 1996-2005. At times throughout his tenure he has coached Middle School football, basketball, and baseball, varsity boys' golf and soccer, and varsity football, cross country, and track. He has served as a member of the Personnel Practices Committee since 1968 and has chaired it for several years. He was involved either as chair or co-chair of the ISACS Self-Studies completed in 1978, 1985 and 1992 and has served as Park Tudor's United Way Campaign Coordinator since 1989. Mr. Black holds an A.B. from Wabash College and a M.S. from Purdue University.
Curry, Stephen (2003) – Middle School Administrative Assistant

Mr. Curry holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in education from Indiana University. Before joining Park Tudor, he taught fifth grade for 23 years for Greater Clark School Systems. He also worked at Resort Condominiums International as a travel agent.
Dominguez, Deborah (1991) - Director of the Hilbert Early Education Center, Director of Technology

Mrs. Dominguez holds a bachelor of arts in elementary education with a kindergarten endorsement from Purdue University, as well as a graduate endorsement and English as a second language endorsement from the University of Houston. In addition, she has extensive advanced academic training in gifted curriculum, math, language, and media. Her teaching career began in Houston and continued in Indianapolis Public Schools for one year. She taught fourth grade for six years at Park Tudor before being named Director of the Hilbert Early Education Center. She also directs the Park Tudor After School program.
Everett, Deborah Stuart (1979) - Director of the Upper School

recipient of the Park Tudor Distinguished Alumni Award, Mrs. Everett
holds a B.A. from Carroll College and M.S.W. from Indiana University.
Previous to her current school positions, she served Park Tudor as
associate director of admissions and director of communications and
alumni relations. She also has been cheerleading sponsor, faculty
sponsor of the Sociology Club, co-director of the Middle School
productions from 1998-2002, Faculty Annual Fund Liaison, and has served
as Park Tudor’s Independent Schools Association of the Central States
(ISACS) Evaluation Chair in 1987 and ISACS Evaluation Vice-Chair in
1992. She currently serves on the Park Tudor Alumni Association Board
of Directors. Before coming to Park Tudor, Mrs. Everett was associate
director of Admissions for Carroll College (WI) and director of
volunteers for homebound seniors at the Indianapolis Senior Citizen's
Center. She has served on a textbook review committee for a national
textbook company and is the author of a workbook, "Doing Sociology."
She has collaborated with POLIS Center in a pilot program which engaged
high school students as social researchers and is active in various
committees, the Chancel Choir and Chamber Ensemble at Northminster
Presbyterian Church.
Fumusa, Joseph (1999) - Upper School Dean of Students; Upper School Social Studies; Director of Summer School

Mr. Fumusa holds a bachelor's degree in music and a master of arts in religious studies from Indiana University. He also holds a master of divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA, where he was inducted into Phi Alpha Chi Scholastic Honor Society. At Park Tudor he teaches Upper School ethics as well as serving as dean of students and directing the school’s summer school program. Mr. Fumusa taught English and religious studies at Hamden Hall Country Day School in Hamden, CT from 1990-1999. He was selected for inclusion in "Who's Who of American High School Teachers" in 1994. While at Hamden Hall he also served as Summer School director, assistant varsity football coach and boys' varsity tennis coach. He also was an adjunct professor at Teikyo University.

Maudlin, Mary Jane (1985) - Assistant Middle School Director; Middle School Dean of Students

Mrs. Maudlin holds a B.A. degree from Marian College, a master's degree from I.U.P.U.I., and has completed additional coursework at the University of Detroit and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. She has completed Butler University's program for certification and license in school administration. Before being named to her current position in 1998, Mrs. Maudlin taught math, served as math/science coordinator for Grade 6 from 1988-1998, and as yearbook advisor from 1987-1998. Before joining Park Tudor, she taught at Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Indianapolis; St. Margaret Mary Alacoque School, St. Louis; and Rex Mundy High School, Evansville. Mrs. Maudlin has coordinated workshops on personality and human relations.
McClain, Evelyn (2003) - Director of the Middle School

Ms. McClain holds a B.S. degree in education from Cheyney University and has completed graduate courses in curriculum development at Temple University and in guidance and counseling at Long Island University. From 1999-2003 she was the director of the middle school at Browne Academy in Alexandria, VA. From 1991-1999, she was middle school principal at The Park School in Baltimore, MD, and from 1983-1991, she was middle school head at the Walden Lincoln School in New York. She also has served as social studies department chair, director of Afro-American Studies, and coordinator of curriculum and innovative programs at Strawberry Mansion Junior High School in Philadelphia. In addition, she has been a diversity consultant at Maumee Valley Country School and Greens Valley Academy, and a middle school education consultant at Poughkeepsie Day School. Ms. She serves on the board of the Association of Independent Maryland Schools and the National Association of Independent Schools’ Diversity Call to Action Committee. She was co-chair of the People of Color Conference in Baltimore and a Multicultural Alliance board member and presenter. She also has been a workshop leader for NAIS.
Mitchell, Dr. Jeffrey (2005) – Lower School Director

Dr. Mitchell holds a master's degree in educational administration and a doctorate in education with a specialization in human learning, development and instruction from the University of British Columbia. He earned a B.A. degree in psychology from the University of Winnipeg. From 1999-2005, Dr. Mitchell served as deputy principal of the Junior School at St. George's School in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he also taught since 1994. He also was an instructor at the University of British Columbia from 1990-2005. Dr. Mitchell was selected as an E.E. Ford/National Association of Independent School Fellow in their Program for Aspiring Heads for the 2004-05 school year. He has published a number of papers on educational issues and presented educational research at the American Educational Research Association Conference, the Canadian Association of Independent Schools Conference, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. At St. George's, he led a number of special committees and programs, including the Teacher Appraisal Committee and the Teacher Orientation Program, and organized and led student international tours. He has coached middle school basketball and directed the school's golf program. He is an executive member and director of foundations for his chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, a worldwide organization of professional educators.
Riddle, Sharon (1994) - Upper School Administrative Assistant

Roberts, Laurel J. (1988) - Head of School's Office Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Roberts previous worked as office manager for Farmers Insurance Group, was head secretary in the nuclear engineering office and extension office secretary in the child development and family studies department both at Purdue University. She has attended classes at Butler University, has an Indiana Property and Casualty Insurance License and is an Indiana notary public.
